Play in the Park

Start 2019 off on the right foot – take a wintry stroll through our very own St. Vrain State Park. Located right off of I-25 and Highway 119 in Firestone, this 604-acre oasis provides plenty of outdoor activities for the entire family.

St. Vrain State ParkBundle up and enjoy taking an easy hike along any of the parks six trails, which range from .5 mile to 1.6 miles and weave through old cottonwoods and in between peaceful ponds. Keep your eyes open for Canada Geese, Bald Eagles, deer, and other small wildlife. Pedestrians and non-motorized bicycles are welcome on the trails, as is the family pooch – as long as they are under your control and on a leash that doesn’t exceed 6 feet in length. Learn more about the trails, by clicking here.

Perhaps dropping a line in the water is more your style. St. Vrain State Park offers great fishing opportunities year-round as ice-fishing is a popular winter activity at the park. In fact, ice fishing is allowed on 10 of the 11 ponds throughout the park once the ice is at least 4” thick. For conditions, please check the St. Vrain State Park Facebook page

St. Vrain State Park is proof that one doesn’t have to travel far to get out and enjoy all that nature has to offer. Learn more about this Weld County gem by visiting their web page and following them on social media.
