
Leaf peeping – sounds scandalous, but it's something all Coloradans take part in during the fall. We love the change of seasons - the crispness in the air and the turning of the leaves. But did you know you don’t have to head to the hills to get an eyeful of amazing autumn color? There are several local spots to enjoy fabulous fall foliage!
Crow Valley Campground, Briggsdale:

Located about 40 minutes northeast of Greeley is the town of Briggsdale, which is home to the Crow Valley Family Campground managed by the U. S. Forest Service. This family campground has ten camping sites, restrooms and an abundance of trees along the creek bed. Drive up for the day and take a walk on the Birdwalk Trailhead or the Trail of the Mourning Dove before enjoying lunch at one of the numerous picnic tables on site. The Poudre Trail, Windsor and Greeley:

This 21-mile paved trail is perfect for walking, running or biking along Cache la Poudre River – home to a variety of vegetation ranging from cottonwood trees to wild cucumber vines. Cool air in the mornings can create low fog or mist that adds to beauty area. There are many benches along the route to take a break and really enjoy the scenery. From this trail, you can spot deer, wild turkey and maybe even a beaver in the river.
Looking for a shorter, more compact route to explore? The
newly improved Signature Bluffs Natural Area off of 71st Ave. in Greeley is home to a newly graveled, flat trail and informative signage that guides visitors through the prairie and riparian habitats found in the area.

St. Vrain State Park, Firestone:
If it’s possible to have a favorite tree, you might find it at St. Vrain State Park located in Firestone at Highway 119 and I-25. Home to majestic cottonwoods, including one that stands proudly between Mallard and Pelican Ponds off one of the several trails open to walkers, runners and bike riders. With the Rocky Mountains in the background, it is a picture perfect spot to check out. Bring your bike, bring your lunch, bring your leashed canine friend and enjoy a quiet scenic fall day without spending most of your time in the car or fighting crowds.

Pearson Park, Fort Lupton:
If you want a stunning view of fall colors paired with the
scenic beauty of one of rivers that runs through Weld County, then head over to Pearson Park in
Fort Lupton. The park, which is home to ball fields, a playground, bike
trail/walking path, has a stunning pedestrian bridge over the South Platte
River that offers visitors a unique view from above the river. Listen to the
water slowly make its way east passed tree-lined banks. Keep an eye out for
wild turkeys and deer as well.
