2014_JF_FrederickRecArea_071714_005 We may be in a land-locked state, but that doesn’t mean we don’t enjoy spending time by the water. Here’s a quick list of places to get out and enjoy some by our local lakes and rivers.

Frederick Recreation Area: a 1.26 mile path makes its way around Milavec Reservoir.

Poudre Trail: This 21-mile trail follows the Cache la Poudre River from Island Grove Regional Park in Greeley west through Windsor where it eventually connects to a paved trail in Larimer County. Foxes, raccoons, coyote and deer all live along the river and could be spotted along your walk, run or bike ride.

St. Vrain State Park: multiple trails, such as the Muskrat Run Nature Trail, Bald Eagle Pond Trail, Coot Pond Trail and Pelican Pond Trail, wind around ponds and lakes providing great views of the mountains as well as local wildlife.

Windsor Lake: After you enjoy summing and paddle boarding on Windsor Lake, you can take a relaxing walk around the 2.25 mile trail that winds along the lake’s perimeter.
