University of Northern Colorado

As we slide into fall, another school year has begun at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC). If you’re not a student, you may think UNC has little to offer you or your family. But it turns out the university features affordable, engaging entertainment options for everyone.

If you’re new to Greeley and the county, or have been here for years, there are many different things to discover — or rediscover — at UNC.

Sports

Enjoying college football on Saturday, women’s volleyball throughout the week or a women’s soccer game (who by the way are picked to win the Big Sky Conference) are all possibilities in the fall. With a focus toward providing an engaging fan experience at affordable prices, UNC provides great opportunities for fans to enjoy top-notch sporting events close to home.

Registering your kids for the Klawz Club is a great way to have memorable experiences at UNC sporting events. A great way to give your children a unique experience is by registering them for the Klawz Club. Membership includes free admission for your child to all UNC home games, a picture with UNC’s mascot, Klawz, a Klawz Club T-shirt, and much more.

If you’re excited for football season, why not root on the UNC Bears? Watch the Bears football team compete against the best of the Big Sky Conference during five home games this season. Making a day of an event is easy and fun as fans are encouraged to tailgate before to the game — up to three hours prior to kickoff. You can purchase a single game tailgate spot or purchase a season pass.

Into a different kind of football? The women’s soccer team takes to the field this fall as well, and watching quality soccer won’t cost you, as admission is free to regular season games. Home games are played at Jackson Field in Greeley.

UNCO Volleyball

If volleyball is more your sport, catch the Bears in one of their home games this year. The volleyball team is looking to build on last season’s success when it won the Big Sky tournament and advanced to the NCAA tournament.

Music and Art

There’s no need to travel great distances to enjoy great music and arts. Art exhibitions are on display in galleries in the Campus Commons, located at 1051 22nd Street in Greeley. Stop by to enjoy some unique pieces of art from a variety of different disciplines. For more information on current and upcoming exhibitions, please visit the UNC Galleries Exhibition Webpage

Maybe a memorable night involves taking in a great concert or theater show. Well, that’s also possible! From little theater shows, to ensembles, to the opera, you’re sure to find something that suits your taste. The College of Performing and Visual Arts is well known across the state and country. Shows consistently get good reviews and are a unique element to the depth of entertainment the university provides.

Those who attend a music show at UNC will also enjoy terrific venues. In addition to enjoying shows at the Union Colony Civic Center, many concerts are also held in the newly-constructed Campus Commons Performance Hall, which opened in March of 2019. The 600-seat venue provides visitors great acoustics in an intimate setting. Ticket information and show schedules can be found by visiting the UNC Ticket Office and clicking “school of music concerts” or “theatre and dance.”
