Sharp skates cutting through ice, pucks hitting the glass and the back-and-forth action of hockey. It’s a sport synonymous with fall and winter and one that can be enjoyed in person in Weld County.
In its second year, the Colorado Grit are Weld County’s premier hockey team, competing in the South Division of the North American Hockey League (NAHL). In this gateway league, the top young players from around the country hone their skills, and the experience gained can be used as an avenue to minor league hockey or the NCAA.
If its first season was any indication, fans are certainly welcoming of hockey in Greeley. More than 11,000 fans visited the Ice Haus during the 2023-2024 season with a handful of NCAA coaches and scouts on hand to watch as well throughout the year. After a last-place finish in the South Division last season, the Grit are off to a better start this year, currently ranking sixth in the division.
With the 2024-2025 season just underway, there are many home games remaining on the schedule. Make plans to cheer on the Grit this season. Learn more at https://www.coloradogrithockey.com/.
Why watch when you can participate? The Greeley Ice Haus offers many classes that teach people the game of hockey as well as several competitive recreation leagues for kids and adults. Learn more about recreational opportunities.
